Rising later today, at 08.25 Estonian time, or UK 06.25.

A gentle reading breakfast. New reading of the morning: Juliet Nicholson’s A Perfect Summer. The Noise Pollution Unit was set to bass drum 4 to the floor when I arrived at the Breakfasting Trough, an inappropriate choice to accompany eating, I felt. John appeared, heroically acting against jet lag. He has a lobby call for 13.00.

Now, to practising before the guitar is delivered to John’s room for delivery to the Pühavaimu kirik.

22.42  Lunching in the town with T. As we were passing the church, John arrived with the equipment. It took as long to drive it there from the hotel as it did for us to walk.

The elderly Custodian lady-person is, rightly, very proud of her church & also of its English connection. A service was held here in 2003 to commemorate the British servicemen who lost there lives helping Estonia achieve its independence from Russia, for the first time, in 1918-19.

One of two small technical faults, that we were unable to fix for tonight, resulted in a few digital clicks. Deft footwork kept these to a minimum and for unprofessional ears, hopefully they were not a concern.

The performance was honoured by an introduction from Dr. Margus Laidre, who also asked for no photos. The custodian lady told me there has never been this many people in her church. A sell out! A very supportive audience, very generous. Mainly, a gentle evening and, almost as rare as hen’s teeth, a Soundscapes encore. They audience would not stop clapping. My Wife came back into the pastor’s room, provided as a changing room, and told me to go back out. Nearly always, I do what my Wife tells me to do, and this was the case this evening. There are some suggestions that this was the best piece of the performance.

Then to dinner & an exceptionally long wait for food.
